Pregnancy is a roller coaster full of ups and downs. From worshiping the porcelain god to hearing that precious heartbeat for the first time, a pregnant women and her partner are in for the ride of their lives. There are so many unexpected pregnancy symptoms and experiences that no one tells you about before hand, and most of them are not pleasant. But raging hormones, rude comments, the pain of labor, and the constant trips to the bathroom are far outweighed by the precious little baby that you can finally hold after 9.5 months. (Yes, I said 9.5. They LIE!)
When I got pregnant, I had no idea what I was in for. I don’t know if anyone really does. I wanted a baby so badly, but I don’t think I really understood what it meant to be a parent. One thing is for sure: pregnancy will change your entire world. It will alter your mindset and put your priorities in a different order. All of a sudden, the world isn’t just about you anymore. You are responsible for another life, and that is at once terrifying and exhilarating. Parents have the power to shape their child’s entire life. The gravity of that fact is mind boggling. It is both amazing and scary. Becoming a parent is the most beautiful and empowering experience on this earth. Believe me, I want to rip my hair out numerous times a day. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
About Us
Adam and I got married on January 15th, 2011. Both of us wanted to start our family early, and we were so excited to have kids. People tell us all the time that we are too young, but I disagree. Our first child, a little girl named Daphne, was born on 11/20/11, a week and a half late! She was originally due on 11/11/11, which was the coolest due date ever. I had to have a c-section with her, even though I wanted a natural birth. Our next baby is due on 1/20/13. Yep, we work quickly! We are beyond thrilled. Pregnancy has been both a wonderful and difficult time for both of us. I hope that our experiences and stories will help you have a better pregnancy, or at least make you laugh. Please leave us comments and share your own experiences with us. Check out our blog page to get all the latest news and stories about my pregnancy!

Congratulations and blessing!!!
I am starting to plan my pregnancy, so excited.
Thanks for sharing. This is a lovely blog!
@JMaryEP
Thank you, Mary! Please do check back often. We are adding new information literally every day! Are you already pregnant, or still planning for it? Either way, congrats!
-Nadia
Thank you Nadia.
No, not yet pregnant in the process and I am very nervous about it. I have joined twitter so I can be aware for tips and annecdotes like your!!! So glad I found your blog.
I’m far from home town (South America) living now in Australia. Missing my friends and family for this new stage in my life ;-(
That is so exciting! Being pregnant is a wonderful and beautiful experience. There are some crappy parts, but it is SO worth it. The time goes by way too quickly. I bet you are missing your family and friends so much! I can’t even imagine. Do you visit home often? Where in South America are you from? I bet Australia is such a nice place to live, though! I’ve always wanted to visit there. I plan to, one day! Did you follow me on twitter? What is your name on twitter? I will follow you!
From Venezuela! I visited this year in April
I am new in twitter @JmaryEP
Australia is beautiful, hope you can visit it, will enjoy it!
Have a nice week ahead!
Congratulations again. Nice to meet you via Twitter. I’m glad you’ve already seen “The Business of Being Born,” and that it’s inspired you to consider natural childbirth. I had a midwife during my pregnancy and labor and although I was really scared about giving birth throughout my entire pregnancy, the experience turned out to be the single best moment in my life. I’d do it again in a second! Some other resources you might consider to help you (which weren’t around when I was pregnant!): Birthing from Within (there’s a book and certified childbirth preparation teachers), and Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth (book).
So nice to meet you too, Tara! I loved that movie. It was really inspirational! I will definitely be looking into those books. Thanks for the recommendation! Did you have a home birth or a hospital birth?
-Nadia
The Business of Being Born was an amazing documentary. Good luck.
It definitely was! Such an eye-opener. I think that every expectant mother should watch it, just to get a different perspective.
Hi Nadia,
Thanks for the reply on my tweet. I’m 25wk+6days pregnant today and expecting a baby girl too. I’m soo excited as this is my 2nd pregnancy but she will be my first child, so excited and constant nervous everyday too
.
Cheers,
Ecky
That’s so exciting, Ecky! What is your due date? How are you feeling? Do you have a name picked out yet?
Congratulations on the pregnancy!! It’s the most BEAUTIFUL experience in the whole world! It makes you feel this is the reason you were put on this earth!!

I just commented on your comment on a babble article and came to check out your page. Funny thing is (I mentioned I also have 2 weeks left) – I’m also due on 11/11/11!!! Best of luck to you in the remainder of your pregnancy!
Congrats!
Congrats to you too! Are you so excited? Do you think that you will make it to your due date? That would be such an awesome birthday to have. I’m not sure if I will make it that far! I have a feeling that she will be here by the end of next week. Are you having a boy or a girl?
Thanks! Yes we are so excited! We are having a girl also! Just finished up work on Friday so I’m looking forward to (hopefully) a few days to relax before she gets here. I don’t think I’ll make it all the way to my due date either, but we’ll see. I’ve been having a ton of Braxton Hicks and feeling super crampy – I’m guessing she comes sometime this week. Keep you posted though!
Can’t wait to hear when your little angel comes also! Best of luck!
Hey there! Hope you have a happy safe wonderful delivery! The business of being born was was an eye opening film, and although things didn’t go the way I wanted to with my first, I was happy to have a healthy baby. I wish I was as close as you! (32w)
You are almost there!! 32 weeks is pretty darn close. Are you excited? What is your due date?
Just found your blog– excited to read a bit about your journey! Good luck in delivery and in your desire for a natural birth. I love reading birth stories so I hope you will share yours! Mine is listed on my blog (search birth) if you like reading them too– it was a natural birth.
Thanks so much! I hope that I can have a natural birth. I will definitely be checking out your blog! I love reading birth stories. It gets me so excited to go into labor! I cannot wait.

Hi Nadia
Thought your expecting and new mums would value some insights into how to create a nursery space with minimal toxins
As an interior designer I would like mums to know that what they bring into the home ( materials and finishes) can contribute to family ill health.
